The year 2000 was a drought year and Northampton pumped a record 440,217,000
gallons of water from its three wells. The average pumpage in winter
months is 927,000 gallons per day and the average in summer months
is 2,208,000 gallons per day.
In the event of a power failure, diesel powered generators will
provide electricity to both water plants. Thus, all three water
wells will continue operating and water pressures will be maintained.

Operations & Maintenance
Northampton MUD owns the Water Supply System and the Wastewater
Treatment System. However, they are operated and maintained by contract
with Hays Utilities, Inc. (281-353-9809). Operation & maintenance includes making
sure both systems meet the all of the environmental and safety standards
required by law.
The dollars posted to the water line of your bill (line 1) are calculated by the amount of water used multiplied by the current water rate as established by the MUD Board in its "Rate Order". The rates are determined by the costs associated in getting the water to your meter.
The Sewer (line 2) of your bill ($36.72) is a combination of two items. First is a sewer fee of $19.35 based on the costs associated with sewage treatment and secondly, your trash pick up flat fee of $17.37 (effective April 2004) which is a pass through charge of what the trash company, Waste Management, charges for trash handling.
The EMS line of your bill (line 3) represents a pass through charge from the EMS ambulance service that serves Northampton residents. Monies collected here are sent directly to EMS.
The NHOA line of your bill (line 4) represents a pass through charge to support the Northampton Homeowners Association. The NHOA is a civic organization that sponsors neighborhood enrichment programs, such as The Northampton Neighbor Newspaper, the Northampton Resident Directory, the Annual Garage Sale, Forth of July Parade and much more. Click here for more information about how this organization and it's activities benefit Northampton.
The NHCRWA line of your bill is a pass through charge from the North Harris County Regional Water Authority. Monies collected are turned over to the Authority to cover costs of building the infrastructure for conversion to surface water.
The water bill also includes a USAGE HISTORY, which allows residents to view their usage history for the last 12 months, and a MESSAGE BOX, which is used to convey important information to residents.
Your Northampton MUD water bill can be paid by mailing a check to the address preprinted on your water bill.
