Garbage and Trash Pickup

Northampton MUD contracts with Waste Management (WM), Inc. to collect our community's garbage and trash.

The collection days are TUESDAY and FRIDAY. If a major holiday falls on our garbage collection day, our pickup will occur on the next scheduled collection day following the observed holiday.
Scheduled holidays are:

New Year's Day July 4 Thanksgiving Day
Memorial Day Labor Day Christmas Day

Garbage and rubbish must be available for collection by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. WM shall collect properly packaged residential household garbage at the "back door" of each residence. The term "back door" shall be defined as that area that is immediately adjacent to and in front of the residence's overhead garage door(s) and/or gated access. Household garbage shall be packaged in containers such as lightweight metal cans, plastic cans and/or sturdy plastic garbage bags that are designed for use as residential garbage containers. All properly packaged garbage shall be clearly visible to collection personnel upon approach up to the garage door from the driveway. Access shall be direct and unobstructed from the driveway. Collection personnel shall not be permitted to enter any garage or any gated enclosure. All properly packaged lawn and yard debris shall be collected from the curb. All containers and/or bags of household garbage, lawn clipping and/or leaves should weigh no more than forty ( 40) pounds each when fully utilized. Branches, tree trimmings, and other similar yard waste shall be collected from the curb. Branches and limb trimmings are restricted to diameters of no more than three (3) inches. Branches and tree trimming are required to be cut into lengths not exceeding four (4) feet and securely tied to form a bundle not to exceed forty (40) pounds.

Waste Management cannot pickup hazardous waste such as motor oil, gasoline, paint, batteries, garden chemicals, smoke detectors, etc. Additionally, tires, tree limbs over three inches in diameter, scrap metal and similar items cannot be handled by WM personnel. Material generated from construction, remodeling, carpeting, or roofing materials are not considered as typical household garbage and rubbish and will not be collected.

On the FRIDAY collection day each week, WM will collect bulk items such as bundled moving boxes or larger household items such as furniture from the curb. Please limit bulk to two items per week.

Please contact Waste Management's Residential Customer Service Department at 713-686-6666 should you have any questions regarding garbage services. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you feel Waste Management is not handling your problem in a timely manner, please contact the MUD building at 281-376-3499 or any Board Member.

Please help maintain our subdivision's good looks by keeping your trash at the back door for pickup. If you must use the curbside feature, please do not set anything out until the evening before or the morning of our scheduled pickup.

The composting of lawn and garden refuse is encouraged.
Also, please do not blow yard refuse into the storm drains.
