Dumpster for Flood Debris

The District has placed a dumpster for flood debris at the rear of the Inway parking lot. Residents may direct their contractors to use these dumpsters. Understandably, dumpsters are in short supply as is the process to have them emptied. Please be respectful that this is for residents whose homes have flooded and is for flood debris.

If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact our office.

Our Thanks to the Many Volunteers

In the wake of hurricane Harvey, the gulf coast has experienced catastrophic destruction and devastation. Unfortunately, Northampton was not spared. Over 140 of our neighbors experienced flooding.

The Northampton MUD Board wants to express its thanks to the official first responders as well as scores of good Samaritans who came to the aid of our residents. Certainly, lives were saved due to everyone’s efforts. Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to local churches and businesses for their support. The district’s engineer, Jones & Carter has had several of its employees here in the subdivision helping homeowners.

Most importantly, we want to thank Northampton’s residents as well as those our neighbors in Auburn Lakes for lending a hand to their fellow neighbor. It is this sense of community which has made Northampton a wonderful place in which to live.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has suffered loss during this time.

Sincerely,

The Northampton MUD Board of Directors

Urgent Noticie – Debris Removal Has Begun

  1. All debris must be within 10 feet of the curb for the machines to reach it.
  2. Vehicles cannot be obstructing debris or access to streets.
  3. Mechanized equipment will pick up everything in piles, including mailboxes, fire hydrants, etc. Do not put debris around permanent items.
  4. A second round of debris pickup will occur three or more weeks later.

Dear Constituents,

Let me express my deep sorrow for your losses.

I have been working with Volunteer, County, City, State, and Federal groups to help our area recover as quickly and efficiently as possible. Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle is working hard to get large debris removal equipment and trucks here today.

Again, my staff and I share your sorrow for your loss. We are committed to doing everything we can to speed recovery, cut red tape, and otherwise help in any way we can. Our local district office number is 281-257-4222. You may email me directly at Valoree.Swanson@House.Texas.Gov.

It is an honor to serve such and awesome district! It has been a real blessing seeing neighbors helping neighbors in this crisis.

Sincerely,
Representative Valoree Swanson

Garbage Collection Service

The MUD has been in contact with our garbage collection company, Residential Recycling and Refuse of Texas. They hope regular garbage pickup will resume on Friday. Household garbage is the first priority, and if capacity permits, they will pick up large heavy trash curbside later on Friday.

We hope to schedule additional days for bulk item pickup. In addition to roads, landfills and recycling centers have been closed.

We ask for your patience as we are working to service our residents as best possible during the aftermath of this storm. We will continue to keep you informed. You may contact our office M-F 8:30-4:30 at 281-376-3499.

Cardboard Box Drive

In an effort to help our residents who have flooded, we are organizing a cardboard box drive. As the water recedes and our neighbors are able to access their homes, cardboard boxes will be in demand. If you have cardboard boxes that you would like to donate, please bring them to the MUD Building.
Boxes must be collapsed. If you would like to donate packing tape, that will be appreciated as well.

You may drop off or pick up boxes during our office hours: 8:30 – 4:30 M-F. For more information, please call our office at 281-376-3499.

Working for the Benefit of Northampton

There are many organizations in Northampton, that together, help make our neighborhood an enjoyable place to live. The terminology used in Northampton for these organizations and ‘who does what’ can be confusing. We hope the information provided here will provide residents with an understanding of the entities which govern the subdivision.

The Northampton MUD

A Municipal Utility District (MUD) is one of several types of special districts in Texas that function as independent, limited governments. The role of the Northampton MUD is to provide water and wastewater services for residents. In addition, the Northampton MUD maintains parks and trails, swimming pools, a workout facility, and tennis courts. MUDs rely on the County to provide police and road maintenance services and Emergency Service Districts (ESDs) for providing fire protection.

The MUD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors elected in May of even numbered years. Our district holds two meetings per month at the Northampton MUD Building. These meetings typically occur on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m., unless the date falls on a holiday. The first meeting of each month is largely dedicated to the operation of the District’s parks and recreation facilities. The second meeting of the month is the regular meeting, which involves all the District’s business, including, but not limited to, the tax assessor’s report, bookkeeper’s report, operator’s report, general manager’s report, and the attorney’s report.

Public comments are welcome at our meetings. When attending a meeting, you may sign in and fill out a comment card. The Board of Directors will address your concerns and invite comments from the public at the beginning of each meeting.

The Northampton Maintenance Fund

The Northampton Maintenance Fund (often called a Homeowner’s Association) is mandated to provide the following services for our subdivision: assess and collect an annual maintenance fee, enforce deed restrictions and oversee the architectural control committee, maintain neighborhood esplanades, employ twenty-four-hour constable patrol, provide mosquito spraying, and maintain entrance signs.

They employ Chaparral Management, Inc. to oversee these responsibilities and they may be contacted at:

Chaparral Management Company, Inc.

cmc@chaparralmanagement.com

The Maintenance Fund is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets the third Thursday of each month at the MUD building at 7:00 pm. You may also visit the Northampton Maintenance Fund website at www.northamptonmaintenancefund.com.

Northampton Homeowners’ Association

Unlike many subdivisions, our HOA is a civic organization that sponsors neighborhood events and activities that enrich our neighborhood. These annual activities include: Valentine’s Soda Shop; Easter Egg Hunt; BBQ Cook-Off; Crawfish Boil; Fourth of July Parade & Car Show; Wine & Cheese Party; Chili Cook-Off; Breakfast with Santa.

The Northampton Homeowner’s Association is run entirely by volunteers and depends on your $1 per month voluntary contribution on you water bill. The HOA meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm a the Northcrest Activity Building (the pool house adjacent to the Northcrest pool). You may visit their website at www.nhoaevents.com.

New Splash Pad on the Way!

Beginning just after the July the 4th holiday, Northampton MUD will begin construction of a splash pad adjacent to the Inway Pool. This addition will add a fun and exciting change for our younger pool users. Unfortunately, this activity will require us to close the pool for approximately three weeks. The question has been asked “Why close the pool in the summer?’ 1. We wanted to get some use of the new feature this season and 2. July and early August are the periods of lowest use. During this period swim team is over, lessons have wound down, many are on vacation and the heat is unbearable on the deck and parking lot. Even the water temperature exceeds 92 degrees. We should have several weeks of great weather for breaking in the new splash pad.

During this work the fitness center, playground, and park will be business as usual. Northcrest Pool will easily handle the displaced users for a few weeks.
